Elias Roberts Mexican War Pension — Page 3

Certificate of Official Character

This Harris County Certificate of Official Character, dated October 29, 1888, certifies that notary H. Paul Georgi was duly commissioned and acting in Harris County, Texas, with his commission set to expire May 31, 1889 — a standard attachment giving Georgi's notarizations of Elias Roberts' pension papers "full faith and credit" outside the county. Though the printed form bears the name of County Clerk Alexander Erikson, it was actually executed under the county seal, in Houston, Texas, by Deputy and Acting County Clerk Alex Bartleigh.
