1860 Marriage License & Certificate
Submitted to support Melvina Roberts' widow's claim, this printed Falls County, Texas marriage license and certificate documents the actual wedding referenced on page 37. Clerk of the County Court S.T. Barclay, through Deputy Sam Barnes, issued the license on April 25, 1860, authorizing any qualified official to join Elias Roberts and Malvina Bowers in marriage. Justice of the Peace P.W. Jolley certified that he executed the license the following day, April 26, 1860, and the completed certificate was filed back with the County Clerk's office on April 29, 1860, recorded in Book 1, page 42 of the Falls County records.

THE STATE OF TEXAS. ⭑ COUNTY OF FALLS.
MARRIAGE — LICENSE.
To any Ordained Minister of the Gospel, Jewish Rabbi, Judge of the District Court, Judge of the County Court, or any Justice of the Peace:
You, or either of you, are hereby authorized to solemnize or join in
THE HOLY UNION OF MATRIMONY
Elias Roberts AND Malvina Bowers
in accordance with the Laws of this State, and that you make due return of this your authority, to my office within sixty days from date hereof, certifying how you have executed the same.
Given Under my Hand, and seal of office, this 25th day of April 1860
