Note on source

Used in the Hurley Family Tree for the 1857 claim of Charles Roberts to the land due his dead brothers, including Eli Roberts.

Application to the Commissioner of Claims, Austin, 9 Oct 1857, among the Court of Claims papers of the Texas General Land Office. It names the brothers James and Eli; depositions taken in 1858 for the same heirs (S642) name John and Eli, so "James" may be a misreading of "Jno."

Transcription: To the Hon. J. O. Allingsworth, Comm. of Claims. The undersigned make application for the laws [lands?] to which Chas Roberts is entitled as the heir and only heir of his brothers James & Eli Roberts. Said James & Eli having emigrated prior to the declaration of independence, continuing to reside here 'till the period of their death and performing the duties of good citizens. Austin Oct 9 1857. Philips & Black, Agents.
