Certification and pedigree compiled by Connellan from the Book of Lecan (fol. 214b), the Book of Ballymote (fol. 102b) and Dudley MacFirbis's genealogical MS, then in the Royal Irish Academy. Connellan's certificate is an opinion that the pedigree is correct, not an independent record; the names are undated and only the Thomond parallel column (Brian Boru d.1014, Tairdelbach d.1528) carries dates. The 22 March 1836 certificate also relies on the 962 "Neill O'Hurly" anecdote, which appears to be a misidentification of Niall ua Eruilb (Annals of Ulster). Original not seen. See also CHAS 1905. |
