Note on source
|
The article's exact wording: "The Annals of the Four Masters relate that, in 962, the Danes took several captives in plundering Kildare, and amongst them was Neill O'Hurly, who ransomed himself with his own money. This is also stated in Trias Thaumaturga, page 630." Neither citation has been independently confirmed. Owen Connellan's own 1846 Annals translation did not cover the Annals' early years, so his translation is unlikely to be the actual source of this specific entry, even though the article cites "the Annals of the Four Masters" generally. Colgan's page 630 has not been located in a confirmed table of contents; a Google Play Books scan of Trias Thaumaturga vol. 1 (Latin) may allow direct verification. Very likely a misidentification: see source #7 (Annals of Ulster, via CELT) |
