Inquisition taken at Bandonbridge, Co. Cork, 16 Sep 1631 (7 Charles I). Finds that RANELL HURLEY, late of BALLINACARRIGA, gentleman, was seized in fee of the town and lands of Gortnymucklaghe (3 ploughlands), Ardcaghane (1.5 pl.), Niddeneghmore (3 pl.), Kilcaskane & Bodernygne (1.5 pl.), Eadencurrie (3 pl.), and THE CASTLE, TOWN AND LANDS OF BALLINECARRIGE alias BEALANACARRIGHE, 2 ploughlands known as Ardea. Being so seized, he died so seized (before 1615).

RANELL OGE HURLEY was his son and heir, of full age and married at his father's death, and entered into the premises immediately after. The inquisition then recites the 1613-1615 Carbery Plantation background (Sir James Semple's royal commission, his 28 Jan 1614/15 deed of assignment to Ranell Oge Hurley, Ranell Oge's surrender of the lands, and the resulting patent of 19 Dec 1615 - see source "Ballinacarriga Patent 1615"). By virtue of that patent RANELL OGE HURLEY entered and was seized in fee.

"And being so seized, HE DIED so seized" - the passage naming his heir and the heir's age is defaced/illegible in the manuscript, but the heir is stated to have been of full age and married. This establishes TWO successive Ranell/Randal Hurleys of Ballinacarriga: the elder (d. before 1615) and his son Ranell Oge (the 1584 pardon / 1585 date-stone / 1615 patentee), who had himself died by 16 Sep 1631.
