Genealogical note on "The Hurleys of Balinacarrig Castle." States Cormac Glas MacCarthy married Angel/Angelina, daughter of Randal Oge Hurley of Ballinacarrig Castle - but places this Angelina c.1700 (Cormac Glas was grandson of Jeremy son of Tadhg-an-Duna), NOT in the generation of the 1585 castle-building Randal. The author notes an unbroken succession of no fewer than EIGHT Randal Oges holding Ballinacarriga from A.D. 1530 to 1740, and that it was family usage to call the heir "Oge" (the younger) during the father's lifetime.

Reports the tradition that "one of these Randal Oges" and his wife Catherine Collins/O'Cullane (said to have been so wealthy she was called "an oir," the golden) are the subject of much poetry and romance, and that he spent years in Spain before marrying her - with the initials "R.M." and "C.C." and the date 1585 carved on a window stone at the castle popularly (but per this author, wrongly) read as this couple's memorial.

The author's OWN OBJECTION rests on a mistake: he assumes C.C. must be Angelina's mother (c.1700), which cannot fit 1585 - but does not consider that an EARLIER, separate Randal Hurley + Catherine O'Cullane couple existed c.1580-1610 (independently confirmed by the 1634 Spanish Santiago genealogy - see source "Santiago O'Driscoll Genealogy 1634"). So his specific objection to R.M./C.C. = Angelina's parents is correct, but does not disprove the 1585 datestone reading for the earlier couple.
