Survivor's Brief
This printed Bureau of Pensions "Survivor's Brief" is the internal case-summary sheet the Bureau used to process Elias Roberts' original 1888 claim under the Act of January 29, 1887. It records his 42 days of service (April 24 – June 4, 1847) plus travel, for a total of 67 days' credited service; his attorneys, Fitzgerald & Co., filed August 21, 1888 for a $10 fee; and a rate of eight dollars per month, commencing December 25, 1887. Examiner M. A. Reno, Pension Searcher Silas Boyce, and Bounty Land Searcher M.F. Otey processed the claim, which reviewers Calvin Newcomb and W.D. Chadwick approved on December 3, 1888.
