Note: Google search: "John Beals" "Sarah Bowater" 1684 Chester, Pennsylvania; Woodward family pages on RootsWeb, "John and Sarah Bowater Beals Family" (X479; compiled, citing Quaker meeting records). Unsourced, grade C. Google search: "John Beals" "Sarah Bowater" 1684 Chester, Pennsylvania; Woodward family pages on RootsWeb, "John and Sarah Bowater Beals Family" (X479; compiled, citing Quaker meeting records). Unsourced, grade C. The page: John Beals, son of John and Mary Clayton Beals of Chester County, born 1686 (a Genealogy.com forum post gives 28th 1st month 1685); married Sarah Bowater 14 Aug 1711 at Chester Monthly Meeting (the forum post gives 14th 9th month 1711); died 1745, probably in Virginia, three years before the family moved to North Carolina. His father's will (1726) names John's first five children: Sarah, John, Thomas, Mary Ann and Phebe. CONFLICTS: birth 28 Jan 1684 (this record) versus 1685/1686; death place Deep River, North Carolina (this record) versus probably Virginia. Quaker dates before 1752 count March as the 1st month, so "28th 1st month" would be 28 March, not 28 January. Left as recorded. Children named on the page: Sarah (1713), Mary Ann (about 1715), John (1717), Thomas (1719), Phebe (1720), Prudence (about 1723), Bowater (about 1725), Hannah (1729) and Rachel (1730). |
