On fol. 132v: the gallows was erected by McCarthy Reagh's order; Captain McSwiny commanded; after McSwiny left, "this Examinants ffather being left in the Castle without Comand, deliuered vp the said Castle, when the English came before it, ffor the which McCarty threatened to hang this Examinants father". Endorsed "McDermond Hurlyes Exam about the murder of Kilbritten". Signed "Der: Hurly". Before John Clerke and Francis Wheeler.

Note

Parentage (grade B+): his own statement about his father surrendering Kilbrittain matches Daniel Oge Hurley, keeper of the keys; and "Dermond & John, sons of Daniel Hurley of Belleghe".

Note

Holcom's 1642 debtor "Dermod [mc Owen?] Hurly of Belleghe ... gent." was first attached here. At about 14 in 1642 this Dermod is unlikely to be that gentleman debtor, so the 1642 entry is now treated as a different Dermod, perhaps Dermod McOwen Hurley (X414) (grade C). His father's friendship with "Mr Holcombe" (fol. 132r) does tie Daniel Oge to the same Holcom household.
