Note

Research log, 2 Oct 2026: Google search "Kasson Dains" Athens County Ohio Katherine Riley 1871. Results: only this site's own pages and a RootsWeb Daines page and an Internet Archive "Lineage book" about a different, older Kasson Dains (father of Dolly, who married Philo Shumway; wife Esther Burroughs) - not this man (b. 1846, son of Lewis Dains and Nancy Sargent, I3/I5). The Dalton Data Bank Ohio index lists "Kasson Daines" near "Mary E. Dalton" and the date Oct. 21, 1871 on the same page (layout unclear), which may bear on his first marriage (F35, about 1865, to I134) versus the 31 Oct 1871 marriage to Katherine Riley (F34); not resolved. Unsourced, grade D for birth (1846, Ohio) and marriages.
