PARENTAGE: probable son of Randal (Ranell) Oge Hurley (grade B). "McRannell" = son of Ranell; "of Ballinacarriga" in 1602, the day after the heir's pardon; his family held 1615 manor lands (Kilmeen, Lisgubba) in 1641. A son of Ranell senior (i.e. a brother of Ranell Oge) is less likely on dates (active 1601-1641). CAUTION: a separate "Wm Hurley of Kilmallock" (brother of Randal Hurly of Kilmallock, d. 1628) lent money on Carbery land in the 1620s; bare "Wm Hurly" entries in Boyle's diary are unassigned. The 1614-1638 Derrygra/Knockduff and Kiltallow entries are certainly this Carbery William. WIVES: (1) Ellen ny Learie (O'Leary), his wife in 1601, very probably the "first married wife" of the will and mother of William oge; (2) an unnamed second wife, living in 1641, mother of James. |
Note
Children: William oge (son and heir; his mother was William's "first maried wife", very probably Ellen ny Learie) and David McWilliam ("my second son"). Ellen as their mother: probable, B-. |
